Perfect location, delicious home-cooked food, and cozy rooms that exceeded our expectations. the hotel is situated in a breathtaking spot, and everything we needed was easily accessible. the meals were scrumptious and made us feel like locals, with a homey feel to them. the staff was exceptionally inviting and made us feel at ease.
The parking was challenging, with no reserved spaces , and we had to settle for on-street parking. Adding to that, the dining room was quite cramped, making us feel a bit uneasy, and the atmosphere was too formal for our liking.

The hotel was hard to find but the welcome was excellent and the room was comfortable.

The staff were very helpful indeed and spoke good English. The hotel itself was old and well furnished with mostly old furniture and skiing memorabilia mixed with the new (Tvs, WiFi etc) in a very unusual way. Nice, eccentric, walled garden
The hotel was quite noisy (unavoidable in an old building) from doors floors and plumbing

This charming, family-run hotel is located in the heart of a scenic mountain town, with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. It's also conveniently close to the ski area, with a gondola right by the hotel taking guests straight to the slopes. Rooms are comfortable and well-equipped, with modern amenities like wifi and coffee machines, and there's a lovely bar and lounge area to relax in. the homemade pastries at breakfast are a definite highlight, as are the friendly staff.
The hotel may feel a bit dated for some guests, with an older decor style and furnishings that may not suit everyone's tastes.

Le Lion d'Or is truly delightful. Ideally situated in the centre of Cauterets, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The family-run establishment provides tastefully decorated yet unpretentious rooms; French country cooking at its best; and an excellent standard of service that says nothing is too much trouble. One not to miss.
